Steam equipment which consumes large amounts of steam always requires some method of controlling the steam flow. One of the most common and energy efficient methods is the use of a pressure modulating steam control valve.
Our applications experience has proven that SP-CRD will remove condensate quickly and completely with a very small amount of live steam loss on applications utilizing a modulating steam control valve.
Over a wide range of condensate/ pressure variations, the nozzle of the properly sized SP-CRD will be filled with condensate so that steam losses are usually too small to measure. Examples are steam absorption chiller, large converters and air pre-heat coils.
It is important to realize that a conventional steam trap, with its own compensating mechanism, tends to complicate and defeat the modulating steam control which results in inefficiency and substantial steam losses
